The United Methodist Church is pro-choice. Paragraph 161j in the Book of Discipline (2012) describes their stance of being "reluctant to approve abortion" but feel that in some cases of difficult circumstances, that it may be justified. However, on May 16, the General Conference voted to remove its boards from the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC). While the vote may have more to do with the radical advocacy of abortion by RCRC, it is certainly a step in the right direction. Let's pray they will also change Paragraph 161j to recognize that abortion is never justified by circumstances. Click for link to story
